8/18 Schilling vs Jered Weaver

Schilling might be a great stopper for the Sox. But the best way to guarantee a win is to keep Gagne from getting to the park.

Gagne has pitched twice against the Angels this year. Early in the year he shut them out for 8 innings. And on Aug 6th Curt got the loss after allowing 4 ER in 6 innings. Getting the loss against Jered Weaver, his opponent tonight.

Curt needs to watch out for Vlad tonight and mistake pitches. Vlad has managed only a .267 avg and .313 obp career against Schilling. But in 16 hits Vlad has 9 extra base hits along with 5 homeruns. Also Orlando Cabrera is .313 lifetime against Schilling.

It ought to be an even match tonight. Especially with Boston’s offense weakened with Cora and Hinske playing and a very tired Varitek.
