Lester vs Sonnanstine 8/21

Last night Lester showed some of the magic he showed in 2006. Even with a poor performance of 5.1 IP, 5 ER, 4 BB and 2 HR Lester still managed a win.

Coco Crisp and Julio Lugo both had 2-run doubles in the 4th leading to a five run inning against rookie Andy Sonnanstine. Tuesday’s 7-8-9 came up big for the Sox, driving in five of the eight RBIs.

The Amazing Feat of the Day: David Ortiz can move. Someone needs to clock this big man when he turns on his jumbo jets. In Papi’s two hits tonight a triple and an infield single, Ortiz ran as fast as he’s ever ran. In both plays almost being thrown out coming into the base.

Jonathon Papelbon recorded his 30th save in 32 opportunities by pitching 1.1 innings with three strikeouts. The 30th save made Papelbon the first Red Sox pitcher to have at least 30 saves in two different seasons.

Congrats
