Second Team Offense Clicking

There may not be a Tom Brady sighting on the field tonight but the smooth offensive style of the Patriots is still present.

Quarterback Matt Cassell just orchestrated a 13 play, 87-yard drive culminating with a Heath Evans one yard plunge. Cassell looked poised in the pocket as he’s completed 10 of 14 passes for 99 yards thus far tonight.

Both Evans and tight end Marcellus Rivers were featured on the drive. Evans has showed some incredible speed for his size both last week and this week. Patriots commentator Randy Cross mentioned that he thought Rivers could be the biggest surprise of the pre-season for the Patriots. I couldn’t agree more. Rivers signed just one day before the first pre-season game, and barring an injury I see him making the final 53-player squad.
