The Patriots have announced their cuts prior to the regular season opener next Sunday against the Jets. For a full list of the cuts, check out Reiss’s Pieces.
Also looking for a new home is tight end Marcellus Rivers. Rivers was brought in before the first pre-season game because of the injury to Kyle Brady and had played well in all four games, catching eight balls for 83 yards and a touchdown while filling in as a blocking tight end.
With roster exceptions for Asante Samuel (for only a few more days) and Rodney Harrison (for the first four weeks) the Pats could have technically kept 55 players, but decided to keep only 53.
