Patriots Violations Confirmed

Continuing an ongoing story, according to an ESPN news report, the NFL has confirmed that the “New England Patriots violated league rules Sunday by videotaping defensive signals by the coaching staff of the New York Jets.” As a result:

Goodell is considering severe sanctions, including the possibility of docking the Patriots “multiple draft picks” because it is the competitive violation in the wake of a stern warning to all teams since he became commissioner, the sources said. The Patriots have been suspected in previous incidents.

This turn in the signal story does not look good for the Patriots. The Patriots will have a chance to explain their side of the story by Friday. Goodell is expected to make a decision based upon that story by Friday as well. More to come…

  2. Yeah, I agree. Seems like a very unwise decision for the Patriots to make…It will be interesting to see how this one turns out.

  3. I think I heard yesterday on ESPN that Mark Schlreth (granted, a Patriots hater) said that it’s known around the league, meaning it’s nothing new. The Pats aren’t the only team that is doing/has done it…They’re just the first to get caught. Like Vick, like Donaghy, they’ll be used as an example and pay the penalty (likely a good draft pick).

  4. Goodell: Patriots, Turn Over All Spying Video…

Continuing an ongoing saga that doesn’t seem to go away, the New England Patriots have now been ordered to turn over all media related to the taping of signals of other teams. This demand directly implies that the Patriots do have more video foot…
