The Celtics’ fourth preseason game was unlike any of the previous three. They led a close game 36-33 at the half. The score remained that due to the game’s cancellation because of a damp court from melting ice beneath the floor. Worcester’s DCU Center is mainly used as a minor league and college hockey arena. More than 10,000 fans went home disappointed, but the Celtics did they best they could to please them by signing autographs after the game was called.
The game was a tale of two quarters. The C’s starting 5 played all 12 minutes in the first frame, dominating the Nets bench 21-8. The C’s bench played against Nets reserves in the 2nd quarter, with the Nets outscoring the Celtics 25-15. Nets stars Jason Kidd, Vince Carter, Richard Jefferson, and Nenad Krstic all did not play.
