Varitek, Clemens Named on Mitchell List

WEEI just reported that current Red Sox players Jason Varitek and Julian Tavarez are on the list compiled by George Mitchell as he investigated steroid use in baseball.

Also included were Roger Clemens, Andy Pettitte, Johnny Damon, Mo Vaughn, Albert Pujols, Miguel Tejada, among others.

WNBC reported the list first on WNBC.com, but MLB officials have denounced the list citing several errors. Sports of Boston will have coverage of the correct list provided by the Mitchell Report when former Sen. George Mitchell holds a press conference at 2 p.m.

Update: Report does not list Damon, Pujols, Tejada, Varitek, Tavarez

  1. If Tek is on the list……he should get the same vilification as Bonds or you are all hypocrits.

  2. All player should take everything they can to make the game more fun to watch. It’s entertainment, we go to watch great preformances not good ones.

Get off your cross and let it be what it is…….a silly game we like to watch, not anything important.

  3. VARITEK IS NOT ON THE LIST!

Neither is Nixon or Damon or many other players who were leaked in earlier reports. I just downloaded the enitre pdf file from MLB.com and did a search for Tek especially. HE IS NOT LISTED!

Please let other people know…no one needs to get a bad rap for hear say and rumors…especially someone as respectable as Mr. Varitek.

  4. I just scanned the information as well, and Varitek is not on the list. Thanks for the updates…

  5. If Varitek confesses, he will not be villified for long. If he denies it, he’ll be attacked but not like Barry Bonds.

  6. Don’t worry, he will not be blamed for anything. He was not listed by George Mitchell, which goes against the previous report. Varitek is in the clear for now…

  7. does anyone think that this will effect tek’s chance at a contract extension. and why did they mention him and others in the first place.

  8. I would love to know where the Varitek rumor came from to begin with. Is there any truth to a link between Varitek and past steroid or HGH abuse?

  10. yeah I agree with that. In the coming days, I have a feeling more players will either be unfurled or will come forward…
