An excellent week, so far.

Who thought that the Bruins would have the week they had? The team managed to collect six points out of eight and is looking to add two more against Columbus.

I must admit that the Bruins are getting better and better under the excellent coaching of Claude Julien. Alex Auld has been very good for the team and key players like Aaron Ward and Andrew Ference are coming back from the disabled list. There’s a lot of buzz (in forums and boards) regarding the Bruins’ chance to make the playoffs. But, I maintain my prediction that the team will finish 9-10 in the conference. Don’t get me wrong here: the team has improved greatly (and is still capable of improving) and has a chance to win every night. It’s a pleasure to watch the Bruins right now.

Quick notes: Fernandez is out for the season (which means that the Bruins can use the money to sign/trade for a player), Matt Hunwick was sent in Providence. After being the laughing stock in the past 2-3 seasons, the Bruins are getting respect from all around the league. Experts/writers are changing their stance (a little bit) on the Bruins as an hockey organization.

  1. Yeah the Manny Fernandez acquisition didn’t quite work out, but that’s fine now that we have Auld and Manny’s money to use for another player

  2. Yes, but Chiarelli had no choice to make a move because of Thomas’s inconsistency in the past two years. Some fans were angry that Chiarelli gave Kalus for Manny but our GM clearly refused to give a boatload of draft picks for Toskala or Bryzgalov. I think Chiarelli made a wise choice even if the whole thing turned a bit sour… If i’m Chiarelli, i’m looking for a d-man who can help the transition game…
