Doc Rivers, the coach of the team with the NBA’s best record, has officially been named coach of the Eastern Conference All-Stars for the Feb. 17 NBA All-Star Game.

Rivers earned the nod by defeating the New York Knicks yesterday afternoon. With the win he clinched Eastern Conference’s best winning percentage through NBA games played on February 3.

Reaction: Doc Rivers deserves every honor he receives this year. He’s guided a team with immense talent and turned it into a team with an amazing record. That’s not always easy to do. Look at the Miami Heat right now. Sure, they’re banged up. But they still have Dwayne Wade, Shaquille O’Neal, Ricky Davis, and others. Despite their talent, the team is in the midst of a 14-game losing streak. Doc, meanwhile has kept it together. Hopefully, by the way, Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce, and Ray Allen will be joining him. Congrats, Doc!
