Clippers Waive Sam Cassell

The Clippers waived Sam Cassell Thursday, after he missed four games with a sprained right wrist. Rumor has it that he wanted to join the Celtics to be the veteran backup point guard for starter Rajon Rondo.

Reaction: It’s premature to celebrate, but this is exciting. Additions of P.J. Brown and Sam Cassell all in one week? That would be great! This team would seal up their two glaring weaknesses: backup point guard and backup big man. Obviously, there’s more to come from this development.
