After a few dark days in free agency for the Patriots when CBs Asante Samuel and Randall Gay left the team, the Patriots have stepped up and made two significant signings in as many days. Just a day after re-signing WR Randy Moss, the Patriots today signed veteran cornerback Jason Webster to an undisclosed contract.
Webster arrived earlier today at Gillette Stadium for a free agent visit and it didn’t take long to work out a deal. Webster, 30, has played with the 49ers, Falcons and Bills during his eight year career, amassing a total of 11 career interceptions.
Webster could fit in nicely to the Patriots new look secondary but the key for him is injuries. Since the 2002 season, Webster has missed 41 games due to various reasons including the last 15 weeks of last season.
