Cassell Makes It Official

Sam Cassell officially signed on for the championship run on Tuesday, filling the roster and clinching Executive of the Year for Danny Ainge.

Doc Rivers ruled out Cassell for tonight’s showdown against Detroit, but he could practice with the team.

Reaction: This signing is great. Rajon Rondo will enjoy having a back-up, so he’s not relied upon so much. Now, when Rondo is off the floor, at least we’ll have an actual point guard taking the ball up. The signing likely means a little less minutes for Rondo, but it really cuts into time for Tony Allen and Eddie House. At least Tony Allen can concentrate on driving to the hoop and House can now concentrate on launching threes. The signing just makes everyone better. More to come…
