Patriots Not Selected for NFL Openers

Despite garnering some of the highest TV rating numbers in the history of the NFL last season, the Patriots will not be featured in a nationally televised game to open the 2008 NFL regular season.

Earlier today the NFL released the schedule for the opening weekend, which included the defending champion NY Giants facing the Redskins on Thursday Sept, 4; the Bears travel to Indy for Sunday Night Football on Sept. 7; and the Monday Night Doubleheader on ESPN features the Vikings at the Packers and the Broncos at the Raiders.

The full NFL schedule has yet to be released though the Patriots do know what teams they will be playing at home and on the road.

  1. I think that’s totally ridiculous. the money-grubbing NFL thinks the fans wanna see Redskins-Giants on opening night? Giants I can see…but the Redskins?
