Sox Return Home to Face Tigers

The Red Sox are finally back!

It should be a special day at the ballpark today, as the Red Sox finally return home from their 3-country, 2 1/2 week-long tour of the world while they played some baseball. They bring with them a 3-4 regular season record, but for at least today all that is thrown out as they celebrate their second World Series Championship in four seasons.

Opposing them in the actual home opener are the 0-6 Detroit Tigers, who have been swept at the hands of the Kansas City Royals and Chicago White Sox. Daisuke Matsuzaka will start for the Sox against lefty Kenny Rogers.

Notes:

  • Bartolo Colon reinjured himself and was forced to go to the 15-day disabled list.
  • Coco Crisp and J.D. Drew will play, that means Jacoby Ellsbury will be sitting on the bench.
  • Mike Timlin pitched one inning in AAA Pawtucket yesterday and did not allow an earned run. He remains on the DL retroactive to March 20.
