I'm surprised a lot of New Englanders are not talking about the fact that Somerville Native, Gosder Cherilus, went number 17 in the NFL draft to the Lions. To me this should be even more exciting news than Matt Ryan because Gosder is a true homegrown talent and has a great upside to be a star.

Pats are smarter then to let Cincy take there coveted guy. Mayo was probably there top guy or equal to Rivers.

Otherwise I don't see the extra 4th rounder being why they don't get Rivers.

Smart, fast (4.5 40). Seems good, we need to find a replacement for Bruschi anyway. Hopefully we can score some CBs too; someone needs to fill Asante's shoes.

I'm happy with the pick but would have preferred Keith Rivers. I'm sure if Cinci hadn't taken him the Pats would have.
