Masterson, Colon to Start this Week for Sox

To give starters their regular rest, the Sox plan to call up Justin Masterson for a Tuesday night start against the Kansas City Royals. He will be sent down, and the next night Bartolo Colon is scheduled to make his Red Sox debut.

Reliever Chris Smith was called up to give the Sox an extra arm while Hideki Okajima rested. He will probably be the casualty when Bartolo Colon is called up and remains with the big club.

Bot Thoughts: I’m excited to see Masterson make another start for the Sox. I realize he’s not here to stay yet, but perhaps we will be seeing him full-time next season. I wonder if Bartolo Colon can realize his former glory when he starts Wednesday. It may take a few starts to get going for him.
