Kaczur Arrested, Then Helps DEA

The Boston Globe is reporting that Patriots offensive lineman Nick Kaczur was arrested by police in April for buying OxyContin pills, then turned around and helped the DEA bust dealers of the illegal over the counter drug.

Kaczur wore a wire while he pretended to buy pills from his dealer Daniel Ekasala. On the third buy, police busted in and arrested Ekasala; he was indicted by a grand jury shortly after.

Kaczur has not spoken out about the report and when asked by a Globe reporter said, “I don’t know what you’re talking about, bro.”

The Patriots haven’t publicly made a statement, they’ve simply referred all questions to law enforcement officials.

My Take: This is quite an interesting story and it probably will stay in the news cycle for a little while. It’s a little disconcerting that this is yet another arrest for the Patriots (Willie Andrews and Kevin Faulk athankyou) in a few months. It looks like the alleged dealer’s lawyer is trying to paint the picture that Kaczur’s “star power” had something to do with his dealing but that’s bs. We’ll see if Kaczur comes clean on the event and maybe he’ll become the next Shaq and get deputized!
