A few Patriots notes during the lull in the NFL schedule (we’ll start training camp position previews shortly).
Runningback Kevin Faulk has pleaded no contest to a misdemeanor marijuana possession charge stemming from his arrest on February 22. Faulk will have his five month jail sentence suspended and will be on probation for a year and must complete community service.
Faulk was arrested with four hand rolled cigars at a Lil’ Wayne concert in Louisiana. L’ L’ L’ L’ L’ Like a lollipop.
In other Pats news, legendary tight end Ben ‘Winter’ Coates was elected to the Patriots Hall of Fame thanks to a vote by the fans.
Coates was a Patriots for nine seasons and made the Pro Bowl five times. His numbers as a Patriot remain high in the team record books with 5,471 yards (seventh), 50 touchdowns (second) and 490 catches (third). His quote from Boston.com:
“I feel great about it. It feels great to have the fans make the choice,” said Coates of his selection. “The other nominees were great competitors and I am honored to be the inductee. I guess it was my time, and what better time to be inducted than the year the team is opening The Hall at Patriot Place.”
