Ortiz Homers in Rehab Start

David Ortiz homered in his rehab debut at Triple-A Pawtucket tonight as he continues to work his way back from a wrist injury that has kept him out of the lineup since May 31.

The crowd began chanting “Papi!” and Ortiz responded, slamming a 1-2 pitch into the visitors’ bullpen. Ortiz popped up to shortstop in his first at-bat.

Oritz is expected to return to be back in the Red Sox lineup by July 25, just in time for the opener of a weekend series against our beloved New York Yankees.

Ortiz is back baby! (almost…)
