Manny Ramirez Knee Injury? Slugger Out Tonight

Manny Ramirez will be out for tonight’s game against the Yankees, due to the same knee problem that has been lingering for a week. This injury caused him to miss the game on Wednesday, which coincidentally was the first day anyone on the Red Sox heard of the knee injury. Keep in mind, it was an injury already bothering him for a week.

Now, I truly believe that Manny may have started to feel the pressure of carrying the Red Sox lineup while David Ortiz was out, and decided to keep his injury to himself until Ortiz returned. He definitely had a lot to do with the Sox success while Big Papi was out, but he wasn’t the only contributor. J.D. Drew, Kevin Youkilis, Dustin Pedroia, and Mike Lowell all stepped up in a big way to help carry the load with Manny.

Anyway, here’s the new lineup:

1. Jacoby Ellsbury, LF
2. Dustin Pedroia, 2B
3. David Ortiz, DH
4. Kevin Youkilis, 1B
5. Mike Lowell, 3B
6. J.D. Drew, RF
7. Jed Lowrie, SS
8. Jason Varitek, C
9. Coco Crisp, CF

Why did Manny wait to tell the Sox about his knee injury?

  • Just Manny being Manny. (21%, 3 Votes)
  • He was trying to hold out until Ortiz returned. (14%, 2 Votes)
  • Players hide injuries all the time, no big deal. (15%, 2 Votes)
