Patriots Sign LaMont Jordan

The Patriots made a quick free agent coup on Saturday, signing former Jets and Raiders runningback LaMont Jordan just a day after he was released by Oakland.

Jordan, 29, rushed for 549 yards and three touchdowns last year while also accumulating 247 receiving yards. With the addition of rookie Darren McFadden, the Raiders felt Jordan was expendable.

My Take: The Pats obviously feel like Jordan can come in right away and help the club considering the speed in which they signed him. Having played in the past for the Jets, Bill Belichick and his staff know all about his skills and what he could bring to a backfield which already includes Laurence Maroney, Sammy Morris and Kevin Faulk. I personally like the move as he was a much sought after free agent when he signed for the awful Raiders.

  1. I really like the signing…especially if Sammy Morris or Laurence Maroney gets hurt. Great insurance.
