Angels Trade For Mark Teixeira

ESPN’s Jayson Stark is reporting that the Angels have pulled Casey Kotchman from the team’s pre-game warmups at Fenway Park because the 1B has reportedly been traded, along with another prospect, for Atlanta Braves 1B Mark Teixeira.

Trade Breakdown

Angels Get: 1B Mark Teixeira – The deadline’s biggest offensive prize. Teixeira will help immensely in protecting cleanup hitter Vladimir Guerrero, and now the Angels are the front-runner to represent the American League in the World Series.

Braves Get: 1B Casey Kotchman, minor league P Steven Marek – Kotchman is a nice pickup for the Braves, who would’ve lost Teixeira via free agency anyway. I would assume Teixeira will be on the field tomorrow against the Red Sox.
