Rain Delays Johnny Pesky Ceremony
The Red Sox have announced that the threat of rain Friday and Saturday has delayed the plan to retire Johnny Pesky’s #6 until Sunday.
The Sox initially planned to hold the ceremony an hour before gametime on Saturday at around 3 p.m., which also happens to be Pesky’s 89th birthday. But, because of a coastal storm and Tropical Storm Kyle, the ceremony’s postponement was necessary.

A well earned tribute to a loyal man.
When I was working on my novel Timely Persuasion, I included a chapter set at the 1946 world series to help vindicate Pesky from his undeserved goat horns.
