Small Fire Burns at Citgo Sign

The Citgo Sign is a fixture at the top of Kenmore Square, and is seen prominently beyond Fenway Park’s Green Monster. A day after the Red Sox lost to the Rays in Game 4 and their season was pushed to the brink, a small fire erupted on that very symbol of Boston, which cannot be a good omen for the rest of the ALCS.

The fire Wednesday blackened some panels on the white part of the sign. The fire department said the flames were quickly put out and the blaze was likely caused by an electrical short circuit.
