Patriots Destroy Broncos 41-7

The Patriots answered many questions (but also created plenty more) on Monday night. Yes, apparently Bill Belichick tends to figure things out after a blowout loss (last week vs. the Chargers). Yes, maybe Matt Cassel is a competent NFL QB. But…will the real Patriots please stand up? Is Cassel this good? Are the Broncos that bad?

Facing a pass defense that’s even worse that the Patriots version, QB Matt Cassel threw for 185 yards and three touchdown passes in a 41-7 victory. WR Randy Moss caught two of those scores as part of his 69 yards receiving.

The defense finally showed up. Against a high-powered Denver offense, the D forced five Broncos turnovers (2 Cutler INTs, 3 lost fumbles) as part of an all-around dominant effort.

SoB’s Jeff will have more coverage of the game later on.

INJURY NOTE

  • Rodney Harrison was carted off the field after a knee injury and did not return.
  • After running for a career-high 138 rushing yards in the first half, RB Sammy Morris left the game with a knee injury and did not return.
