AP – Milan Lucic completed his first career hat trick with 1:41 to play in the third period, lifting the Boston Bruins to a 5-4 comeback win over the Atlanta Thrashers on Saturday night. Stephane Yelle and David Krejci also scored to help Boston snap a three-game losing streak.
Vyacheslav Kozlov, Ilya Kovalchuk, Jason Williams and Mathieu Schneider scored for the Thrashers.
The format of the Bruins game against the Atlanta Thrashers on Saturday night was changed because of incorrect faceoff markings at one end of TD Banknorth Garden.
In the third period, the teams switched ends following the first stoppage in play after the 10-minute mark.
The Bruins issued a statement about 40 minutes before the game that said:
“The change in format is occurring due to incorrect markings on the West End of the TD Banknorth Garden ice. … The two face-off dots are 24 feet from the goal line — 4 feet longer than NHL specifications.”
