Fire Eliminate Revolution 3-0

The Revs have been devastated by injury this season, and finally ran out of gas in losing to the Chicago Fire 3-0. As a result, NE is officially eliminated from the MLS Cup Playoffs. Game 1 was a 0-0 tie in New England, so with the Chicago win at home, they win the aggregate 3-0 and advance to the Eastern Conference Finals.

The loss marked the first time in the last seven years that the Revs did not advance to the Conference Finals. In fact, they had eliminated the Fire in each of the last three playoffs before 2008.

Chicago received goals from forward Chris Rolfe and defenders Wilman Conde and Gonzalo Segares, which gave the Fire more than enough to advance.

The Revs were clearly hurting without Taylor Twellman, who was out with injury. The future for both Twellman and the Revolution is unclear. This appeared to be their last run together at a Cup Championship.
