Ty Law Signs With Jets, to Play Thursday

The Jets signed Ty Law late Monday night, and pending a physical he’s expected to play against the Patriots this Thursday night. You knew Eric Mangini had this up his sleeve for a long time in anticipation for Thursday’s big game. The Jets and Patriots are both 6-3, and a Patriots win would give them the tiebreaker in the season series (2-0). With a Jets win, they zoom into first place at 7-3.

Mangini expects to use Law as a safety and cornerback, and must find a way to fit him into the team’s roster. They have seven CB’s (including Law) and two kickers (Jay Feeley and Mike Nugent), so the Jets will have to cut someone to include Law.

The Patriots were also reportedly looking to bring Law back, and have a dire need for him in a depleted secondary. SS Rodney Harrison is out for the season, and CB Asante Samuel left before the season via free agency.

“I just feel better about this and the direction this team is going and how they welcomed me,” Law said, according to NFL.com. “I wanted to be somewhere I wanted.”
