According to FOX Sports’ Jay Glazer, Giants WR Plaxico Burress accidentally shot himself in the right thigh Friday night. He was already ruled out of Sunday’s game with a thigh injury, but a bullet wound may push him out of action for much longer.
Several reports aside from Glazer’s say that the Burress incident occurred at a nightclub (big surprise).
He’s been fined three times since June already. The NFL fined him $45,000 for his conduct in a game against the 49ers in October. The Giants fined the wide receiver on two occasions: $25,000 for missing a minicamp practice in June, and another $117,500 for missing a team meeting in November (he was also suspended one game).
The Giants are doing just fine despite the troubles surrounding their star wide receiver. They lead the NFC with a 10-1 record and look to be favorites again for another Super Bowl run.
The Giants released a statement regarding Burress:
“Our primary concern is for Plaxico’s health and well-being, and given the circumstances, we are relieved to say he was released from a New York City hospital,” the team said in a statement.
Sports of Boston will have more as this story develops.

For some reason, this news just doesn’t surprise me…
I would automatically suspend him for the rest of the year. One thing you DONT do as a professional athlete is carry a gun at a club.
Another thing you don’t do is create a self-inflicted wound…
