BC LB Mark Herzlich Named ACC Defensive Player of the Year

Mark Herzlich was named ACC Defensive Player of the Year, and earned the honors from the league’s media contingent, Atlantic Coast Sports Media Association (ACSMA).  The linebacker, a big fan of eye black and recently sporting a mohawk, won a close vote, scoring 20 votes. He beat out Florida State’s Everett Brown (16) and Duke’s Michael Tauiliili (12).

Herzlich led a BC defense which led the nation in picks with six and returned two for scores, both team highs.  He also recorded seven pass breakups, most among the Eagles, and had three sacks.  His 74 unassisted tackles and 98 total tackles led the team by far.  He also recorded 10 tackles for loss, second to B. J. Raji’s 11.

It’s a well-deserved honor for a guy who always gives 100% on the field.  He has a motor like few others and his intensity in unrivaled.
