The Mets have officially kicked off baseball’s winter meetings by officially signing closer Francisco Rodriguez to a three-year, $37 million deal that includes incentives. K-Rod set the major league record for saves in one season last year with 62.

With Billy Wagner out for the entire 2009 season following surgery, K-Rod will immediately step in as closer. The bullpen was one of the cheif reasons the Mets blew division leads in 2007 and 2008 in September.
