Red Sox 2B and American League MVP Dustin Pedroia has accepted an invitation to play for the United States in the 2009 World Baseball Classic.
Daisuke Matsuzaka will again play for Japan. He garnered international attention when he dominated in the 2006 WBC and won the inagural MVP award.
It’s also been confirmed that Josh Beckett will not be playing in the tournament that starts March 5.
Reaction: It should be nice to see Pedroia playing for the U.S. Let’s just hope it won’t affect his endurance for the 2009 season.
