The Boston Red Sox on Tuesday acquired minor league pitcher Fabian Williamson from the Seattle Mariners for righthander David Aardsma.
Aardsma was 4-2 with a 5.55 ERA in a career-high 47 appearances out of the Red Sox bullpenĀ last season. Theo Epstein had hoped for much more from Aardsma, but every time he seemed to be on a roll, he’d hit a rough stretch or find himself on the disabled list.
Williamson, 20, was 4-3 with a 4.10 ERA and 67 strikeouts for Seattle’s Single-A affiliate. He has never played in the major leagues.
