Report: Brady on Track to Start 2009

Finally, some good news that’s confirmed. Just a day after ESPN.com’s Michael Smith reported a similar story, the Boston Globe reports Tom Brady’s rehab is going well and he should be ready for the 2009 opener. NFL medical sources say Brady shouldn’t need any more surgery to fight infection and other sources say he has actually been dropping back and throwing passes.

The first game of the 2009 season is September 9, just more than seven months away…

My Take: Nothing but good news here. The fact that he’s actually dropping back and throwing passes shows the knee is stable enough to take even a little pressure. It will still make for some interesting weeks shortly when the Patriots have the option to franchise Matt Cassel.
