Patriots Trade for Greg Lewis, Sign Springs

The Patriots acquired WR Greg Lewis from the Philadelphia Eagles Thursday to help bolster their WR depth. The Patriots also received an undisclosed 2010 draft pick, and in return sent the Eagles in undisclosed 2009 selection.

The Pats also reportedly signed veteran CB Shawn Springs from the Washington Redskins. Springs, 33, was released last week after the team signed DeAngelo Hall.

Reaction: These were two more sound moves for the Patriots. Lewis replaces Jabar Gaffney as the 3rd WR for the team, and Springs bolsters a shaky secondary that features Ellis Hobbs. There’s no word if Springs will start, but I’m sure he’ll definitely see a lot of snaps.
