BU at No. 1 for Sixth Straight Week

With the Terriers sweep of Providence to capture the Hockey East regular season title, BU reigns supreme over the college hockey world for the sixth week in a row.  Notre Dame remains second, the tenth week in a row the teams have gone 1-2 in the poll.  BU took 42 of the 50 first place votes with the Irish garnering the rest.

Michigan, Northeastern, and Denver wrap up the top five.  North Dakota, Vermont, Miami, New Hampshire, and Yale complete the top ten, which includes four Hockey East schools, a credit to the depth in the conference.  Yale moved up one, flipping with Princeton, now #11, the only change among the top ten.  Boston College moved up two spots to 18 and UMass-Lowell sits as the first team out of the poll.

This weekend opens the Hockey East Tournament with the top eight teams qualifying for best of three series: #8 Maine at #1 BU, #7 Massachusetts at #2 Northeastern, #6 Boston College at #3 New Hampshire, and #5 UMass-Lowell at #4 Vermont.  Merrimack and Providence did not make the tournament.
