Just breaking news out of L.A. that former Red Sox slugger Manny Ramirez has tested positive for drugs and is suspended for 50 games! His agent Scott Boras says it’s not steroids but a prescription from a doctor. ESPN is reporting the substance is a women’s fertility drug. WTF? Here’s the scoop from ESPN.com:
…two sources told ESPN’s T.J. Quinn and Mark Fainaru-Wada that the drug used by Ramirez is HCG — human chorionic gonadotropin. HCG is a women’s fertility drug typically used by steroid users to restart their body’s natural testosterone production as they come off a steroid cycle. It is similar to Clomid, the drug Bonds, Giambi and others used as clients of BALCO.
Manny has released a statement saying he admits he took a prescribed drug which led to the positive test and it wasn’t a steroid. How stupid do you have to be to still test positive for any drugs at this point?
Manny is batting .348 with six homers and 20 RBIs. He’ll lose about $8 million in salary for the 50 games.
Which of these current MLB players do you believe most likely took steroids?

Everyone is guilty. One big name after another will fall.
For all these big names finally being brought to justice, I think Jose Canseco deserves an apology.
Hell, for all of his allegations (though I dont beleive Manny was ever named by Canseco) coming true, I think that is reason alone for Canseco to be put in the Hall of Fame.
Pujols will be caught one day.
That’s quite the paycut.
haha how can you absolve Canseco for absolutely lying about his friend Roger Clemens? He hates everyone else in baseball, and ratted them all out, which is good.
He never “saw” his friend Roger do steroids, but he also never saw ALL the other people he named. He also said that Roger is the only player to never cheat on his wife, which we know is already untrue too.
Putting Canseco in the Hall would be a disgrace!
Oh and Manny…how could you!???! Canseco didn’t name Manny, he just speculated that he did it. See an article previously published on SoB: http://www.sportsofboston.com/2009/04/06/canseco-90-sure-manny-used-steroids/
If Pujols is taking it, he better stop, because obviously he will get caught.

the sad thing about Manny and others like him is that juicing might not even help pro ball players play any better
