Dice-K Ready to Return This Week

Daisuke Matsuzaka is set to return this week according to the Herald:

“I think it’s a pretty good possibility,” manager Terry Francona said. “We’ll take advantage of the off day (tomorrow) when we get back. He’ll meet us in Boston. We want to talk to John (Farrell, pitching coach) and Theo (Epstein, general manager), because where we sit with the off day, we may do – finagling isn’t the right word – but (slot him) where it fits us best. But yeah, I think you can pretty much expect him to pitch.”

Dice-K has been DL since April 14th with arm fatigue, most likely from the lovely World Baseball Classic. A full-strength Matsusaka could do wonders for a starting rotation that is ranked 13th in the AL (second to last) with a woeful 5.76 ERA.
