On Monday, May 25, the Denver Nuggets are scheduled to host the Los Angeles Lakers in Game 4 of the Western Conference Finals. On the same day, at the same time, WWE has scheduled an episode of Monday Night Raw. As you would imagine, WWE Chairman Vince McMahon won’t give an inch.
According to the Associated Press, WWE spokesman Robert Zimmerman said the WWE secured the Pepsi Center last Aug. 15 and has already sold more than 10,000 tickets for the event.
“Even though the Denver Nuggets had a strong team this year and were projected to make the playoffs, obviously Nuggets and Pepsi Center owner Stan Kroenke did not have enough faith in his own team to hold the May 25th date for a potential playoff game,” McMahon said in a statement.
At the moment, fans can still purchase tickets for both events at the same arena on the same night.
Reaction: I have my money on the WWE winning this war. McMahon has proved he will do anything to get what he wants, even if it means to create a ridiculous football league (XFL) just to show up the NFL. That battle didn’t turn out to well, but this one will.
