The Eagles search for a quarterback continues as they recieved a commitment from 25 year old David Shinskie. Shinskie, who was going to play football and baseball at Football Championship Subdivision’s Delaware, instead opted to pitch in the Minnesota Twins minor league system. After six years in Double-A, he signed with the Toronto Blue Jays system this year and was recently released. Having not exhausted his college eligibility, he decided to go to school and play football and get an education.
The Mount Carmel, Pennsylvania product also had interest from Rutgers, Pittsburgh, Syracuse, and Temple, but the Eagles offered him the most potential playing time. With no experienced quarterback on the roster after last week’s suspension and departure of Dominique Davis, it would be hard to find a situation in more disarray. The Eagles have Codi Boek, a former junior college quarterback who played fullback for BC last year, redshirts Justin Tuggle and Alexander Atiyeh, and true freshman Michael Marscovetra.
At Mount Carmel High School, he led his team to a 41-6 record, including a 15-0 2002 state championship campaign. He had eight 200-yard games and was 160-250 (64%) with 26 touchdowns and 13 interceptions. He has been going back to Mount Carmel a couple days a week in the fall for the past five years to throw to the defense to keep himself in shape in the baseball offseason.
