The NHL put on its Las Vegas awards ceremony and gave the Bruins some heavy hardware to carry home:
Zdeno Chara – winner of the NorrisTrophy (translation: Defenseman of the Year) – Upset alert: Mike Green of the Washington Capitals was expected to take it, but we all know Chara deserved it. He’s also won the Tallest Player in the NHL Award…Okay, there’s no award for that, but he’s still the tallest player in the NHL at 6’9”.
Tim Thomas – winner of the Vezina (translation: Goaltender of the Year) and Jennings trophies (translation: Must appear in at least 25 games and your team must have the lowest goals against in the NHL)
Claude Julien – winner of the Jack Adams Award (translation: Coach of the Year)
Manny Fernandez – winner of the Jennings Trophy
Also, with no surprise…Alexander Ovechkin took home the Hart Trophy (read: NHL MVP) for the second straight year.
