Fresh off an upset loss in the Eastern Conference Finals, the Cavaliers beefed up their front court early Thursday, pairing the reigning NBA MVP LeBron James with future Hall-of-Fame center Shaquille O’Neal. The deal is currently awaiting league approval.
Cavs Get: Shaquille O’Neal
Suns Get: Ben Wallace, Sasha Pavolvic, 46th Overall pick, $500,000
Shaq adds significant size and muscle to a relatively weak Cavs front court that was clearly overwhelmed by Dwight Howard in the playoffs.
It’s a pure salary dump for the Suns, who appear to finally be rebuilding. They save up to $10 million in salary and luxury taxes next season, and could save more if Ben Wallace decides to take a buyout and retire.
Shaq is going to make a difference in Cleveland, I think hell really be a good addition to the team even though hes getting old. Shaq thrived with players like Kobe and Wade so hell be awesome with the King.
