Shaq Traded to Cavaliers

Fresh off an upset loss in the Eastern Conference Finals, the Cavaliers beefed up their front court early Thursday, pairing the reigning NBA MVP LeBron James with future Hall-of-Fame center Shaquille O’Neal. The deal is currently awaiting league approval.

Trade Details

Cavs Get: Shaquille O’Neal
Suns Get: Ben Wallace, Sasha Pavolvic, 46th Overall pick, $500,000

Shaq adds significant size and muscle to a relatively weak Cavs front court that was clearly overwhelmed by Dwight Howard in the playoffs.

It’s a pure salary dump for the Suns, who appear to finally be rebuilding. They save up to $10 million in salary and luxury taxes next season, and could save more if Ben Wallace decides to take a buyout and retire.

  1. Shaq is going to make a difference in Cleveland, I think hell really be a good addition to the team even though hes getting old. Shaq thrived with players like Kobe and Wade so hell be awesome with the King.
