Dustin Pedroia Will Miss All-Star Game

Dustin Pedroia

According to the Boston Herald, Red Sox 2B Dustin Pedroia is going to miss the MLB All-Star Game this Tuesday due to family issues. Pedroia’s wife, who is seven months pregnant, has reportedly been having complications and Pedroia has decided to be at her side.

“I am disappointed that I will not be able to enjoy the amazing experience with the other All-Stars, especially with my Red Sox teammates, but it is important that I put my family first at this time.”

Tampa Bay 1B Carlos Pena will replace Pedroia on the roster. Pena is currently hitting .233 this season and leads the A.L. with 24 home runs.

In place of Pedroia, Toronto’s Aaron Hill will get the start at second base. Hill is having a fantastic season with a .295 avg, 20 home runs, and 59 RBI.
