The Yankees made a minor move at the trade dealine Friday. After missing out on Seattle SP Jarrod Washburn (he was traded to the Tigers), the Yanks traded for utility player Jerry Hairston, Jr., who should add some speed on the basepaths along with a decent glove.
The Reds received minor league catcher Chase Weems in the deal. With speedster Brett Gardner on the DL with a broken thumb, Hairston helps fill the need for a speedy outfielder.
