2009 MLB Playoffs Pick ‘Em: LDS

The longest season in all professional sports has entered its final chapter, as Major League Baseball’s eight “best” teams embark on postseason play. It promises to be among the best postseasons in recent memory, as there are at least six heavyweight teams with a good chance of winning it all (excluding of course the Rockies and Twins).

Sports of Boston’s most distinguished baseball experts have picked their series outcomes in what will become an annual ritual here: the SoB MLB Playoffs Pick ‘Em. Most the crew selected the Red Sox to win, but none of us (yes, ZERO!) predicted the Sox to beat the Angels via the sweep. Despite Sox sweeps in 2004 and 2007, our writers feel the Angels may be closing the gap.

You know we have a big group of Red Sox fans when three writers cast their vote for the Twins to beat the Yankees, in what would probably be one of the biggest upsets in Major League history.

Rules:

  • Each correct series winner is worth two points.
  • Correctly choosing how long each series will last is worth one point.
  • Making any incorrect pick is worth zero points.

Now, without further ado, here’s the picks:

  1. Wait, how can Pete have the Rockies winning in 6 games? The divisional round can only last at most 5. I’m assuming that was a simple typo.

  2. I forgot it was a 5 game series. So when I sent my picks in, I though Kc made a mistake, so I corrected it myself.

The blame is all on me.
