
Congratulations to the New York Yankees. Theo Epstein would do well to quote the governator Arnold Schwarzenegger, and tell the Yankees, “I’ll be back.” Plenty of records were set this October/November. Chase Utley tied Reggie Jackson for most home runs in a World Series (five); Hideki Matsui tied the record for most RBIs in a World Series game (six in Game 6) and was a triple away in that game from being the first player to hit for the cycle in a World Series game.
Sports of Boston’s staff did pretty well picking the World Series, but thanks to Hideki Matsui, the winner is … ME!!! Congratulations to me, having been the only one to pick all seven series winners correctly, though if A-Rod had been MVP instead of Matsui, Mike would have won on the total score tiebreaker, so praise to Japan.
