College Football Top 10: 2009 Week 11

Kellen Moore and Boise State were supposed to be the BCS Buster this season, however, while they remain undefeated, TCU has passed them and does not appear to be looking back.

This week’s edition of the SportsofBoston.com poll was the least changed poll we had all season. Stanford’s pasting of USC ousted the Trojans from a tie for the tenth spot and Boise State’s strength of schedule is catching up to them as Cincinnati moved past them into fifth. The Broncos have been the BCS darlings among non-BCS conference schools, but TCU looks to be the “BCS buster” this season with their impressive play. If SoB had anything to say about it, both teams would make the Bowl Championship Series, a legitimate possibility at any rate.

Pollsters are SoB’s Erikk, KC, Mike, and MikeBBonner and comments were gathered with the votes. The ballots are available.

SoB’s Top 10 Poll

Rank Team Points Last Week Comment
1 Florida (3) 39 1 MikeBBonner says, ‘Looked the worst of the top three, but played by far the toughest opponent.’
2 Alabama (1) 36 2 Mike says, ‘Number one does not matter now with guaranteed shot at Florida. If they win out, they will be in the BCS Title game.’
3 Texas 33 3 KC says, ‘Destined for the BCS Title Game with Florida/Alabama looming.’
4 TCU 27 4 Erikk says, ‘After beating Utah, the only thing between TCU and a major bowl is themselves. If other teams get in the way each other, THE BCS bowl isn’t too far away, either.’
5 Cincinnati 23 6 Mike says, ‘Win over Pittsburgh assures them BCS bid.’
6 Boise State 20 5 MikeBBonner says, ‘If the Broncos win and nobody knew thier opponent had a football team does it still count? Apparently not, haven’t played anyone since Oregon. I have them 5 now; two weeks from know they’ll probably be 6 if Cincinnati beats Pittsburgh.’
7 Georgia Tech 16 7 Erikk says, ‘The Yellow Jackets earned a big in the ACC title game after convincingly beating the Duke Blue Devils. Their only loss came so many weeks ago.’
8 LSU 11 8 KC says, ‘Nice recovery against Louisiana Tech.’
9 Pittsburgh 8 9 Mike says, ‘Pittsburgh is the greatest threat to Cincinnati’s undefeated season, but a loss likely drops them from the BCS to the Meineke Car Care Bowl.’
10 Ohio State 6 10 Erikk says, ‘The Buckeyes are back in the Top 10 after knocking off Iowa. As winners of the Big Ten, they’ve booked a trip to the Rose Bowl, ensuring a successful season despite early troubles.’

Others receiving votes: Oregon 1
