Report: Welker Tears ACL and MCL

According to a report from Adam Schefter of ESPN, Patriots wide receiver Wes Welker has a torn ACL and MCL. If true, he would obviously be done for the season. More tests will be done tomorrow. Welker was hurt on the Patriots fourth offensive play of the day today against the Texans and came off the field in obvious pain. He was carted to the locker room for tests. Schefter reported the news on his Twitter feed.

It’s a big hit for the Patriots as they move into the Divisional round next week at home. Julian Edelman is the likely replacement in the rotation.

Welker’s left knee buckled as he cut to avoid a Houston Texan tackler in the first quarter.
