The N.L. leader in just about everything suffered a broken pinky finger during batting practice over the weekend. No official word on how ling he will be out, but Ethier reported that he can’t hold the bat the way he normally does.
Travis Snider (OF), Toronto Blue Jays
Toronto’s power-hitting youngster hit the 15-day DL with a sprained wrist after complaining of pain during batting practice.
Justin Duchscherer (SP), Oakland A’s
In the middle of a bounce-back season, Duchscherer went on the 15-day DL with left hip inflammation.
