Pop star Lady Gaga, a self-proclaimed Yankees fan, attended a Yankees fan on Friday in a half-buttoned Yankees jersey with pretty much nothing else on. That’s certainly OK, but what’s drawing controversy is what she did after the game, in which the Yankees lost to the Mets 4-0.
Gaga, still wearing “bikini bottoms” and a half-buttoned Yanks jersey, reportedly was granted access to the Yankees clubhouse after the game. She apparently was swigging a bottle of whiskey and fondling her chest…wow. Initial reports said Alex Rodriguez, who went 0-4 in the loss, met with Gaga. Robinson Cano clarified that fact later, saying he was the only Yankee to meet with her after the game.
“She can sing, I’ll tell you that,” Cano said.
The New York Post reported on Sunday that Hal Steinbrenner was furious that Gaga was mingling with the team after a loss, and went so far as to ban Gaga from the clubhouse in the future. GM Brian Cashman downplayed some of Hal’s statements.
“That was the wrong time and the wrong place,” Cashman said. “It’s been taken care of.”
Cashman said no one was fired for the security breach, and Gaga was not banned from the clubhouse. He also said that the Yankees have other places in the stadium where they can interact with celebrities.
The Yankees currently sit in first place in the AL East, just one game ahead of the Rays and 1.5 games ahead of the Red Sox, pending the result of the Sunday night game.
